Vision Statement

The Nelson and District Museum, Art Gallery and Historical Society is a vibrant, community-based organization dedicated to being a significant cultural anchor for the Nelson district of British Columbia.

Our Mission Statement

The purpose of the Nelson and District Museum, Archives, Art Gallery and Historical Society is to run a sustainable, integrated organization that actively promotes, through exhibitions and programming, the knowledge, appreciation and understanding of history and art.

This will be accomplished, according to industry standards, by:

  • Collecting and preserving regional artifacts and art;
  • Innovatively interpreting regional history;
  • Operating well-organized, accessible archives;
  • Displaying local and touring contemporary art; and
  • Proactively raising funds to support efficient operations and effective programming.
